But if the city is the world which man created, it is the world in which he is henceforth condemned to live. rio's slum solution
The UN predicts that if slum growth continues at its current rate, 40 percent of the world’s population will be slum-dwellers by 2020. Overpopulation of the planet will also have a devastating effect on the environment. The manner in which Brazil attempts to solve this clash of urban and natural environments is likely to have profound repercussions for future global attempts to manage such unsettling issues.
